So now the big fat whiny Longhorn babies are bitching about the Cotton Bowl tunnel. Like that's the reason they've lost the last five years straight.
Errol McKoy, president of the State Fair of Texas, said OU fans have been sitting in the south end zone for as long as he could remember. McKoy has been with the State Fair the last 18 years.
"I think they divided the stadium way back when and when they did it, I don't think the tunnel was an issue," McKoy said.
Now it is.
Former Texas receiver Keith Cash, who caught the game-winning touchdown pass for UT in a 14-13 victory in 1990, said OU fans have been merciless when the Longhorns emerge from the tunnel.
"They'll spit on you and call you everything in the book," Cash said. "Their fans do their best to try to intimidate you."
Yeah, and it seems that intimidation works, too, doesn't it? You're a big tough guy to let some 16-year-old from Duncan scare you like that.
McKoy said changes are being made to extend the tunnel for Saturday's game to provide more coverage for players when they walk onto the field. At the request of Texas officials, McKoy said a fully covered area will be extended 15 additional feet into the stadium Saturday, further shielding players from fans.I'll bet if the south end goes to UT in the future they'll insist that the covered area be taken down, won't they?
Texas doesn't really want the tunnel. They just want to have an excuse for poor performance. Just wait -- if Texas wins, someone from their camp will claim the last five losses were because they didn't have this protection.
Piffle. They're just big fat whiny Longhorn babies.
