don't miss Tuesday's 'Daily Show'

All right, all right already -- I'm back. I looked at my referer stats this morning and found twelve different Google, Yahoo, and Devilfinder searches for combinations of my name, 'braised,' 'lambchop,' and 'dean.' (Why 'dean' I don't know, although I suspect it's Dean Esmay). I hope that person or those persons found what they wanted to know about me; not many secrets here, after all, and welcome.

The R.E.M. concert was unbelievable. They played for two solid hours and Michael Stipe told us a couple of great stories. The venue (the Fox Theatre in St. Louis) was where he saw Bruce Springsteen for the first time; at that concert (and he had the house lights brought up so he could point out the seat he was in at the time) he, in his words, 'began the odyssey that led me to stand on this stage today.' While R.E.M. was on the 'Vote For Change' tour with Springsteen, Michael said that Bruce was very patient and listened to all of Michael's hero-worship stories until 'we could sit together like real people.'

So from brush with fame to another -- the subject of this post, tonight's Daily Show. Tonight during the show there's going to be a piece about 527 organizations, and my cousin, Cleta Deatherage Mitchell, is interviewed.

I haven't seen Cleta in several years, since she switched to the Dark Side and left the Democratic Party (which we could kind of see coming based on her personal religious beliefs), but I have seen her on MSNBC and NPR recently. Cleta went to OU on work/study, working in the Bursar's Office, and put herself through law school. She used to tell me that she hates to practice law, so it's a good thing her specialty is election law and not litigation. I'm glad she's successful, because she's worked very hard for what she has. I disagree with her on just about every political issue, especially term limits, but I'm not alone -- her mother disagrees with her too. (There's a little inside 411 for you.)

Anyway, we don't really look alike, but if you've never met me and want to see one of my real live blood relatives, watch The Daily Show at 10pm CDT Tuesday (October 26).

I hope they don't make her look too ridiculous. That would be bad.
